Over the last few weeks the Newport Jazz Fest has slowly been announcing who will take the stage on July 29 - 31, 2016 at Fort Adams State Park and the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the
Newport Casino.
As of Wednesday, January 6th Newport Jazz Fest has announced at least 12 different acts that will perform at the 62nd edition of the historic festival.

The first act announced for the 2016 Newport Jazz Festival was Kamasi Washington.
Additional acts will be announced to the festival lineup through January 21 when all tickets go on sale.
Please welcome Kneebody back to the Fort as they join our 2016 lineup.
From their Quad Stage debut in 2015, to their workshop participation at The Jazz Camp at Newport (in collaboration with Newport Festivals Foundation, University of Rhode Island and Salve Regina University), Kneebody is part of our festival family and we’re proud to have them back this summer.

Please welcome Sullivan Fortner to the 2016 lineup. A pianist whose performances, as The New York Times notes,
draw from Baroque forms and the processional cadence of New Orleans, his hometown …
Sullivan will be making his Newport debut as a bandleader and presenting a composition commissioned by the George Wein/Doris Duke Artistic Programming Fund.
If you missed José James‘ Quad Stage performance last year, rest easy, because he’ll be returning to Newport in 2016. Back by popular demand, please join us in welcoming José to our 2016 lineup.
Tyshawn Sorey is no stranger to Newport, but with his group Alloy, he will be making his festival debut as a bandleader.
We’re excited to hear what they create for us at the Fort this summer.
Angélique Kidjo was just nominated by The GRAMMYs for her album “Sings”.
We’re looking forward to hearing songs from that album at Newport this summer, so please join us in welcoming Angélique to our 2016 lineup.
The Festival features music on four different stages on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm at Fort Adams State Park.
Newport plays host to a number of festivals during the summer months, including the Newport Jazz Festival, the Sunset Music Festival, the Newport Folk Festival (where Bob Dylan infamously “went electric” in 1965), the Newport International Film Festival and the Newport International Boat Show.
